Microblading or Tinting Browz and Beauty

Microblading or Tinting?

Microblading or Tinting?

If you haven’t already had eyebrow microblading done before, we’re almost positive you’ve at least considered it – probably on several occasions. If this sounds like you, there must be something holding you back (and we get it, it’s a massive decision!). Perhaps you just feel like you don’t know enough about it and/or are struggling to compare it to sticking with regular brow tinting. Perhaps you just feel like you’re onto such a good thing with regular brow tinting and, well, why risk that? We don’t offer eyebrow microblading in our salons, but when we say we want the best brows for you, we really mean it. So let us help you decide which option is better for your brow game; microblading or tinting.

What is microblading?

Anything with the word blade or blading in it sounds a bit concerning – and because the pen is a sloped blade with 10 or so small needles at the end, you’d only ever go to a qualified and reputable microblading artist (obviously). We should clarify that the blade and needles don’t actually penetrate the skin (phew). They actually just scratch the surface, implanting light strokes with pigment.

What is brow tinting?

Brow Tinting is another semi-permanent way to help brows appear fuller, and gives individuals the opportunity to achieve the perfect shape for their face. We offer regular brow tint, henna and hybrid tint – each of which achieve different results.

Do these services hurt?

That depends on your pain resistance level, beauties! Some say that with microblading, the sound of the scratching on their skin was enough to give them the heebie-jeebies, and that it hurts because it’s a repetitive scratch similar to papercuts. Others are completely unaffected. We can confidently say though, that tinting does not cause any pain or discomfort (unless you go to a dodgy salon and they get your shape wrong – ouch).

How long does microblading last in comparison to tinting?

Microblading can last up to 12-18 months, with touch ups required in between (considering the process of microblading, you’d certainly want it to last at least this long). Tinting on the other hand, varies! Regular tinting can last up to 2 weeks, Hybrid lasts up to 7 days on the skin and 7 weeks on the hair, and Henna tint lasts up to 14 days on the skin and up to 4-6 weeks on the hair. Individual results vary.

Does microblading and tinting achieve a similar look?

Not really… Microblading draws strokes/lines in order to resemble real hair, whereas tint stains the skin and the hairs in the desired shape of the brow – the two services achieve a different end look.

What is the aftercare for these services?

The aftercare for microblading is very important, because needles have scratched the skin and there is always risk of infection with this type of procedure. You would need to avoid steam rooms such as hot showers or saunas, avoid swimming and any facials or chemical peels, as well as make up or skin products. You also need to be mindful not to pull or scratch off the scabbing that follows the treatment (all a normal part of the skin healing). Your service provider will give you specific instructions relating to all of this. Tinting is as simple as not getting it wet or going into steam for 24 hours after the service.

At the end of the day, which service you choose to maintain those beautiful brows is up to you. If it’s tinting you decide on, you know where to find us (for any new-comers, we’re in Adelaide, Canberra and Darwin). If you’re keen to give microblading a go, do your research and choose carefully. Brows, after all, frame your entire face.
